Turchi Reading Reflection Ch.1

In chapter one Turchi touched on a lot of big themes that applied beyond map making to all creative pursuits.  As an artist, this held my attention much more because I could relate to the claims that the author was making.  For example, on page 22 Turchi writes, “if we’re serious about the pursuit of our art, we are, nevertheless, unsatisfied” this speaks to the fact that as artists we are always critical of our work and always look ahead beyond what exists to what might be.   By bringing up the patterns and habits of artists Turchi also lead the reader to a conclusion that map making is more than informational or political, it is also artistic.
